DO ZADANIA 6!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Mensa is the biggest and the oldest high-IQ society in the Word. It accepts members whose score is about or over 140 points on a standard intelligence test.
The society was created in Oxford in 1946 by Roland Berrill, a lawyer and Dr Lancelot Ware, a scientist and a lawyer. Their aim was to form a society for super-intelligent people regardless of their race, religion or material status. The two gentlemen wanted the members of the society to meet regularly and to enjoy each other’s company. The word ‘mensa’ means ‘table’ in Latin and the idea of its creators was to have ‘a round table’ where people of the same, very high intelligence could discuss things and exchange ideas. Therefore, Mensans meet at regular conferences and form special interest groups.
Mensa has three aims. It wants to find people of unusual intelligence; it tries to do research into the nature of intelligence and finally it hopes to create a stimulating environment for its members.
There are about 110 000 Mensans in 100 countries. The strongest groups are in the UK and the USA. Poland has about 700 members registered.
Mansans are people of different professions and age groups. The members include university professors and lorry drivers, poor people and millionaires. Mensa has quite a few child members from the age of 3 to 18. The youngest accepted child was the 2-year-old Georgina Brown. She scored 152 points in her test and surprised everyone with how much she could do.
Mensa has its equivalent for less bright people. It is called Densa and it started as a parody of Mensa. The members of Densa must simply belong to the 98% of the less intelligent population.
