1 Complete with the past continuous
The shark attacked Bethany when she and her best friend Alana ______ (surf) together. The two girls _______ (hope) for a big wave. They certainly ______(not think) about a shark attack. Betheny _____ (wait) on her board wit her left hand in the water when the shark attacked. After the attack she saw the she _____ (lose) a lot of blood. Alana, her brother and her father helped Bethany to the beach. It took 15 minutes and all the time Bethany ____ (say) to herself 'Get to the beach'. She ______ (not try) to escape from the shark - she just wanted to get to the beach. Alana's father talked to her all the way to the beach. 'I ________(answer) all his questions', Bethany said afterwards, 'but I can't remember now what I said'.
