Is a city in New York, the largest in terms of city population in the United States. "The city that never sleeps", also known as "Big Apple". It lies on the eastern (Atlantic) coast, at the mouth of the Hudson River and East River to the Gulf of New York. New York is among the most densely populated places in the United States. Population exceeds 8.3 million of the city, covers an area of 1214 kilometers square, which gives a density of about 10 thousand. persons per km square.
New York was founded in 1614 by the Dutch on the island of Manhattan as a commercial trading post, in 1625 founded New Amsterdam settlement, the main port colony of New Netherlands. New Amsterdam city rights gained in 1653. In 1664, together with the colony was captured by the British and renamed New York.
