  In June 1925 19 year old Ederle Gertuda tried to cross from France to England, but she has not completed the distance in the absence of forces after this incident, people said that women should not swim for long distances and that they are inferior to men. A year later, Gertrude tried again. 6 August 1926 year she dived in the water at Cap Gris Nez in France-but her father traveled with her sister, giving her soup.
